Leah started working at TCD in July of 2019 as an Administrative Assistant. Leah works in our front office and is the first person to great you when you come visit or call.
Leah is a Washington native, raised in Olalla on the Kitsap Peninsula. After graduating from high school she joined the Washington Conservation Corps. She moved to Olympia soon after. While working in the WCC she worked on sites all over the region; invasive plant removal in the Olympics, planting hedgerows on Vashon Island, trail restoration on Mt. Rainier, and Maintaining Olympia’s Black Lake Meadows. This experience led her to a lifelong love of conservation.
She graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Bachelor’s of political science. While attending she studied philosophy, biology, and public administration. She was a Senate Intern for the 2011 Legislative session at the Capitol, and was an intern for Thurston Volunteer Legal Services. Upon graduating she traveled and became grass roots campaign organizer. After being gone for 7 years she decided her heart and home was in Olympia. Her love of community, nature, and public service makes her an enthusiastic member of the Thurston Conservation District.
Leah spends her free time gardening, sailing, and loves to cook. Her personal goals include knowing all the Latin names for the plants native to the Pacific Northwest.
