South Sound GREEN works closely with Nisqually River Education Project and Chehalis Basin Education Consortium to provide community-building programs like Summer Teacher’s Institute and Climate Resiliency Fellows.

Check out what our teachers have accomplished on the Pacific Northwest Climate Leaders blog.

The Squaxin Island Tribe, also known as the People of the Water, are the native people of South Puget Sound.  The Squaxin Natural Resources blog highlights the work that the Squaxin and other tribes are doing to promote natural resource conservation and restoration.

Volunteer Opportunities

None at this time. Check back in September 2017.

South Sound GREEN relies on volunteers to assist with water quality monitoring and nearshore field trips. Our Water Watchers volunteer training takes place in the fall and provides training to parent and community volunteers interested in helping students with water quality testing. For the nearshore program, we partner with Puget Sound Estuarium and the beach naturalist volunteers. We also need certified scuba divers willing to collect marine life for the students to see at Zittel’s Marina. The Student GREEN Congress is also made possible by volunteers. Thank you for your time and dedication!
