Heather worked in advertising and marketing as an account manager and media planner/buyer for many years, handling major regional and national accounts. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Washington. Heather’s interests are in conservation, farm preservation, and wildlife, so she really enjoys having the opportunity to help Thurston Conservation District with everything from admin support to equipment rental. She and her daughter volunteered with the Pierce Conservation District as stream monitors for several years.
Heather is an award-winning nature photographer and was selected as a winner of the National Audubon Society’s 2017 Photography Awards. The winning photo of a Varied Thrush can be seen in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. When she has a spare moment, she’s often gardening or heading out with her binoculars and camera to photograph birds and other wildlife.
